ELEVATE YOUR PRACTICE
Co-Developer/Master Instructor Trainer
Reflecting all the vibrancy, energy, and drama of her native New Orleans, Darlene Casanova embodies that world in her life and work. She has taught, throughout her profession as mentor and performer, the inherent joy of movement and imagination through music, dance and now in flight with AntiGravity® Fitness. By means of her thorough preparation, first in an arts and performance high school through her musical theater degree at the University of Utah and finally MFA in choreography at New York University TISCH School of the Arts, Darlene has assured her professional credentials and absolutely adores what she does.
Most recently Darlene has been touring the world delivering teacher trainings and instructor trainings in AntiGravity® Fitness curriculums. As one of an elite group of Master Instructors, co-developer and first official AntiGravity® Fitness franchise in the world, she works directly with it’s originator Christopher Harrison.
She is the owner, director and program developer at Imagination Place in Salt Lake City, Utah, a cutting edge educational playground for kids and adults alike. Darlene has committed for over 18 years to providing children and their parents high quality, non-performance music, movement and artistic experiences. Curriculums include internationally recognized programs such as Music Together® and Christopher Harrison’s AntiGravity® Fitness. Seeing a void in the community for programs that encouraged the development of the whole child thru differential instruction or various learning styles, the nucleus of Imagination Workshop was born: to teach children basic life skills utilizing the performing and visual arts as a catalyst. Children discover their natural ability to create by making music, dancing to literature, playing theatre games, creating art and now flying thru the air in Harrison Hammocks.
Internationally Darlene is most notably recognized for the co- development of Christopher Harrison’s AntiGravity® Fitness Kids program. Four years of beta testing yielded an innovative suspension fitness technique for Just Kids and Parent/Child curriculums that is changing the way the world thinks of exercise.
Her work mainstreaming children at Imagination Place has both humbled and honored her and the staff. From autism to downs syndrome to the Deaf and Blind, Imagination Place is inclusive and the quality programs offered are instrumental in assisting children reach crucial developmental milestones in all areas.
Darlene specializes in training and coaching numerous teachers and students alike in movement and performance techniques, emphasizing the integration of cross disciplines. She was an adjunct instructor in the Dance department at Weber State University, a Guest Artist for the U of U Theatre Youth Conservatory, and she has lent her talents coaching the bird show presentation team at Tracy Aviary, a free standing aviary in the U.S., to elevate their performance delivery and show material.
Her mission is to educate and elevate one’s highest potential utilizing music, performing and visual arts as well as health and fitness. Her goal is to cultivate harmonious relationships between family, community and the world. Darlene’s impulse towards harmony reaches far beyond classes and trainings, her work resounds widely into the personal lives, homes and community of her students.
